Drug problems, jail time, a period spent in Europe, none of these mattered when Dexter Gordon finally returned to New York. In a gig in 1976 at the Village Vanguard in New York, Dexter Gordon said once, he felt it was all too eerie, with the crowd refusing to move even as the lights went up. The gig and later recordings proved that Dexter Gordon still had it going for him.
