About Carpenters
The Carpenters' debut work Offering was issued in November 1969. Neither Offering or the accompanying single, a cover of the Beatles' "Ticket to Ride," made a big impression. However, the Carpenters' destiny changed with appearance of their second single, a version of Burt Bacharach and Hal David's song "They Long to Be Close to You."
