About 10000 Maniacs
10,000 Maniacs have toured extensively and recorded three albums from when they first met in 1981 until they finally received recognition and some commercial success. Their 1987 album In My Tribe, with a more mainstream pop-rock sound, made it on the charts and even into the Top 40. a US and UK following emerged and 10,000 Maniacs and their lead vocalist Natalie Merchant have since been viewed as a major influence on American alternative music.
